I’ve been there…
You’ve been together for over 10 years. Life has somehow become all about the kids, your careers, your commitments and just trying to get dinner on the table while he fights with the laundry because no-one has any clean school uniforms for the next day. Again. The last thing you have time for is to go gallivanting off, just the 2 of you, to a photoshoot. Right? Wrong!!
It’s time for a day date
I urge you to use some of your allocated date night (or date day) time and just go for it! Because, let’s face it, the last professional pictures you have of just the 2 of you are probably from your wedding.
I cannot tell you the joy that it brings to watch a couple go from rushed, because of course there were 50 million things that popped up and had to be attended to just before they had to leave (and no, I’m not referring to that – get your mind out of the gutter!), to relaxing into each other’s arms and just enjoying the moment.
Did she really just say, “Okay, now grab her butt!”??
Yes, I’ll be the first to admit that it can be awkward in the beginning with me saying to you, “Okay, now look deeply into each others eyes”; “No, drop your hand just a bit here”; “Yes, go ahead and grab her butt…” , but that initial awkwardness fades, I promise.
And that’s where the magic happens. You start to remember what its like to be just the 2 of you, your couples personality starts to shine through and I get to capture the 2 of you, just as you naturally are as a couple.
There is always time for a little Alone Time
In fact, I am such a proponent for couples having photoshoots that even with my family shoots, I like to set some time aside for pure couples photos. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than watching a couple take the time to reconnect and do something just for them, even if it is just for 5 minutes.
Right, so I have rambled on long enough now – I’ve pleaded my case!
